The Civil Engineering Alumni Association of Uttara University organized the Civil Engineering Alumni Reunion 2026 with the participation of alumni, faculty members, university authorities, and distinguished guests.
At the beginning of the program, S. M. Jahangir Hossain, Respected Member of Parliament, Dhaka-18, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, and Chief Guest, and Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University, jointly planted trees on the university campus, marking the beginning of the reunion with a message of environmental responsibility and sustainability.
The formal session was inaugurated by releasing pigeons by S. M. Jahangir Hossain, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his speech, he appreciated the initiative, emphasizing that alumni reunions strengthen connections among the university community, current students, and established alumni. He highlighted the role of alumni in enhancing the university’s reputation and assured his active participation in promoting quality education in the future.
Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Uttara University, attended as the Special Guest. In her speech, she highlighted the university’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and the continuous development of a dynamic learning environment. She emphasized that alumni are among the most important stakeholders of a university and play a vital role in strengthening institutional identity, professional networks, and long-term development. She also appreciated the initiative of the Civil Engineering alumni and expressed the university’s continued support and encouragement for meaningful alumni engagement and reunion programs.
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rashid, Department of Civil Engineering, DUET; Prof. Dr. Md. Sultanul Islam, Dean, School of Civil, Environment and Industrial Engineering, Uttara University; and Razia Sultana, spouse of S. M. Jahangir Hossain, as Guests of Honor.
The program was supported by the Department of Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Society, and Office of External Affairs. SSARAH Travels served as the Title Sponsor. Abu Talib PK, President of the Civil Engineering Alumni Society and Program Secretary, expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event’s success. Md. Ashraful Alam, Assistant Professor and Acting Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering, chaired the program.
A major highlight of the reunion was the live concert by the popular Bangladeshi band Shironamhin. The musical segment attracted an enthusiastic audience, with more than 14,000 students enjoying the concert and the festive atmosphere at the Uttara University campus.
