Shared Sports Facilities Policy

Created in 2022

Reviewed in 2025

Uttara University believes its sports facilities can serve the wider community as well as its own students and staff. The University will share its sports facilities with local schools, community groups and members of the public on a regular basis, in a safe and organized way.

This policy aims to promote physical activity and well-being in the local community and to support SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being). It applies to the sports facilities listed below and to all local schools, community groups, sports clubs and members of the public who wish to use them.

Cost

Community-Use Hours

  • Community use is permitted during designated hours, specifically Mondays to Fridays, 3:30 PM–5:30 PM for local schools and Weekends, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM for open public access, subject to visitor pass registration, University event priority, and advance notice of any schedule changes.
  • Requests are made to official email info@uttarauniversity.edu.bd. A request should give the name of the school or group, a contact person, the facility, date and time, the activity and the expected number of participants. The University will reply within 3 working days.
  • If several requests are made for the same slot, local schools will be given priority, and other slots will be given in the order requests were received.

Conditions of Use

  • All users must follow the instructions of University staff and security, use the facilities only for the agreed activity and time, take care of the facilities and equipment, and report any damage immediately.
  • The University's smoke-free and tobacco-free rules apply. Alcohol and drugs are not allowed on University premises.
  • Groups are responsible for the conduct and safety of their members. The University may refuse, suspend or end use because of safety concerns or misconduct.
  • The University will keep first aid available through the Medical & Emergency Centre, and security staff will monitor the facilities during community-use hours. Groups bringing children must have enough adults to supervise them.
  • The facilities are open to everyone regardless of ethnicity, religion, disability, nationality or gender. Reasonable arrangements will be made for people with disabilities, and separate sessions for women and girls will be considered on request.

Records and Monitoring

  • The Sports Club/Office of Student Affairs will manage requests and schedules, keep a record of community use (group, date, facility and number of participants), and submit a yearly report to the Vice-Chancellor.
  • The Security Office will monitor the facilities during community use.
  • The Vice-Chancellor approves this policy. It will be published on the University website and reviewed at least every three years.
