Uttara University Organizes New Faculty Orientation Program

Uttara University successfully organized the New Faculty Orientation Program, Summer 2026 on 9 June 2026. The day-long program was arranged with the objective of familiarizing newly appointed faculty members with the university’s academic culture, institutional vision, quality assurance mechanisms, research opportunities, teaching methodologies, and administrative policies to ensure their smooth integration into the academic community.

The program was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Honorable Vice Chancellor, Uttara University, who delivered a comprehensive session on the university’s history, culture, philosophy, academic goals, professional expectations, and collaborative work environment. In her address, she emphasized the collective responsibility of faculty members in advancing the university’s mission of academic excellence and student-centered learning.

The orientation featured a series of informative sessions conducted by distinguished academics and administrative leaders of the university. Professor Dr. Md. Sultanul Islam, Director, Center for Research and Training (CRT), Uttara University, discussed research and publication practices, research grants, and publication incentives available to faculty members. Professor Dr. Mahmuda Begum, Dean, School of Education and Physical Education, conducted a session on effective teaching pedagogy, highlighting contemporary approaches to classroom instruction and student engagement.

A session on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) for Industry-Ready Human Resource Development was delivered by Professor Dr. Md. Taslim Reza, Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, where he elaborated on the significance and challenges of OBE implementation in higher education. Ms. Sharmin Akhter, Deputy Controller of Examinations, provided detailed guidance on examination regulations, assessment procedures, invigilation responsibilities, grade submission policies, and retake regulations.

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) team, comprising Professor Dr. ASM Shahabuddin, Professor, Department of Business Administration and Proctor; Dr. Md. Tareque Aziz, Associate Professor and Chairman, Department of Physics, and Additional Director (QA), IQAC; Dr. Soeb Md. Shoayeb Noman, Additional Director (ETL), IQAC and Director, Office of International Affairs; and Mahmood Reaz Sunny, Additional Director (QA), IQAC, conducted a comprehensive session on quality assurance in higher education institutions, program accreditation, effective classroom practices, and the role of faculty members in maintaining academic standards.

The program also included a session by Mr. Nur Ahammad, Joint Librarian, Uttara University, who introduced participants to the university’s library facilities, digital resources, access to e-books and journals, and plagiarism prevention policies. The event featured a formal certificate distribution ceremony presided over by a Member of the Board of Trustees, reaffirming Uttara University’s ongoing commitment to quality education, continuous improvement and academic excellence.
